    Your Interview

How should I prepare for the interview?

Branch or Support Centre, it will benefit you to find out as much as you can about us! If you’re applying for a Branch position, pop into your local Selco to familiarise yourself with the surroundings and how the branch operates. This will also give you an idea of who our customers are and the standard of service that they have come to expect.

For all of our positions you’ll receive a detailed Job Description. Think about the kind of questions we’re likely to ask and how you might answer. Have a selection of topics you’d like to bring up, such as specific experiences or challenges you have overcome in other positions that have helped you to develop your skills.

It’s also always a good idea to have a few questions of your own to ask. This will probably happen naturally if you’ve already taken an interest in working at Selco, but it always pays to come prepared.

What should I expect at my interview?

Our interviews usually last between 30-60 minutes. You’ll be asked to demonstrate your skills and aptitude for the role, and you’ll have opportunity to decide if Selco is the right place for you.

Depending on the role you’re applying for, you may be asked to undertake a basic numeracy test on the day of your interview. If you have a disability and require any specialist equipment or reasonable adjustments to be made, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

For the Interview I have been asked to provide eligibility documents. What should I bring?

  • Either a passport or Birth certificate
  • Proof of National Insurance number (i.e. NI card or official HMRC letter)
  • Right to Work in the UK documents (inc. visas and permits if applicable)
  • Driving licence
  • Proof of address (utility bill less than 3 months old, driving licence, etc.)
  • Contact details for two referees one of which must be your current or most recent employer/school/college (these will only be followed up if you are offered the position)

    Assessment Centre

What should I expect at a Selco Assessment Centre?

Depending on the role you’re applying for, we’ll ask you to take part in a variety of exercises at our Assessment Centre. These could take anywhere between a half day and a full day.

We use assessment centres to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and suitability for the role and to help release your full potential. You can meet some of our Management team and it’ll give you an opportunity to find out if we’re the right choice for you.
