The Role:

As the Accounts Payable Supervisor you will be responsible for the day to day management of the AP Team ensuring that all accounts payable processes are followed, queries resolved in a timely manner always aiming to pay to terms. Provide expert advice to the team regarding setting up new vendor accounts, payment runs and reconciliations.

The department looks after all invoices that are not related to Goods for Resale ie. Rent, Stationery, Transport, Marketing etc.

You will support the branch network, providing a comprehensive AP service.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise a team of 6 AP clerks, providing clear guidance around objectives and priorities

Encourage, motivate and develop team performance through regular KPIs, 1-2-1s, development reviews and appraisals

Open new vendor accounts, ensuring that all the information is accurate and internal controls  have been adhered to

Proactively deal with requests from stores and vendors to resolve queries

Deal with complex escalated queries or disputes, liaising directly with vendors, branches and internal customers

Manage the timely payment of all invoices in accordance with agreed payment terms

Proactive review of AP processes, ways of working with a view to drive efficiency

Produce and review month-end KPI reports on a timely basis, highlighting main points

Complete financial journals accurately and timely

Supervise the reconciliations of supplier’s accounts

Ensure that all relevant financial controls are maintained and correct procedures are followed and kept up to date

To authorise/monitor holiday and sickness leave

Skills and Experience Required:

Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Supervisor

Strong track record of motivating, mentoring and developing colleagues

An enthusiasm for continuous improvement and supporting change

Strong organisation and time-management skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Basic knowledge of financial / double-entry

High level of literacy and numeracy

Good Excel skills for reporting (e.g. Pivot tables and Look-Ups
