What You'll Be Doing

As the Fleet Manager, you will report directly to the Supply Chain Director. You will be responsible for the procurement, negotiation, and performance management of contracts related to our commercial fleet and equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our assets are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and compliant with all relevant legislation and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure Selco commercial fleet, MHE, and nominated assets in line with budgets and specifications, ensuring best value while considering legislation, performance, safety, and maintenance.
  • Dispose of assets according to company processes to maximize return and minimize risk.
  • Collaborate with the National Delivery Manager to maintain a group of assets for rapid allocation to support business needs.
  • Manage the redistribution of assets to different locations to maximize their useful life and minimize business impact.
  • Negotiate, award, and manage contracts for asset management, maintenance, and repair to maximize availability.
  • Ensure asset specifications meet business needs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Work with the National Transport Operations Manager and Fleet Services Manager to ensure timely and quality maintenance and repair of assets.
  • Manage supplier contracts effectively, ensuring performance and cost control.
  • Produce and manage annual fleet and equipment budgets, strategies, and capital approval processes in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with business, group audit, and financial control processes for suppliers, asset purchases, and contracts.
  • Provide technical advice and support for fleet, MHE, and equipment.
  • Ensure all fleet activities comply with legislation, including health and safety (LOLER & PUWER), environmental, and quality standards.
  • Establish systems to monitor asset and contract performance, identifying risks and issues for resolution.
  • Maintain transport operating license administration for commercial vehicles.
  • Produce regular reports as required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with transport trends and regulations, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Undertake projects as directed by the Supply Chain Director, focusing on fleet management.
  • Deputize for the National Delivery Operations Manager during periods of absence.
