Selco Proves Itself a Great Place to Work

We are proud to confirm that a recent independent engagement survey of our 3,000-plus colleagues has identified Selco as one of the best big companies to work for in the UK.

Colleagues were given the chance to provide their feedback on all areas of their work life including support provided by management, the balance between work and home life and opportunities for career development and progression.

Almost 90 per cent of colleagues completed the ‘Best Companies’ survey and we were thrilled to perform exceptionally well in the nationwide and regional tables.

We were the eighth best Big Company to work for in the UK – a category for businesses with more than 2,000 colleagues – sixth in retail and the fourth and fifth best company to work for in London and the south-west respectively.

Marc Lucock, HR director, said: “The engagement survey is a vital part of our strategy to make the Selco environment as positive and enjoyable as possible for both current and future colleagues.

“We place a large emphasis on listening to feedback from colleagues and acting on it so the engagement survey results were particularly pleasing.

“The regular pizza days we have had over the last 12 months were highlighted by colleagues, as was our Rising Stars career development programme.

“Our colleagues are at the heart of our success at Selco and are certainly the company’s greatest asset.

“We put regular measures in place to make the workplace environment as comfortable and accommodating as possible for colleagues, as well as offering opportunities for everyone in the business to progress their careers.

“There are still areas for improvement and we will continue to try and enhance the colleague experience as we move forward but we are happy with our ongoing progress.”​
