Warwickshire charity receives materials for building repairs

A charity in Warwickshire has secured vital funds for essential building repairs thanks to our Community Heroes project.
The Baba Vadbhag Singh Ji Charitable Trust (BVS) in Coventry has won £1,000 worth of materials to spend at their local Selco store.
BVS, which was established in 2008, helps communities to combat poverty, social isolation and crime.
It runs impactful projects like community fairs with free rides and entertainment. It also supports the homeless, disabled and those who are battling addiction.
BVS’s hub is essential to its operation for delivering its services, and it is one of five monthly winners of the Community Heroes scheme in August.
Karan Kaur, Trustee of the charity, said: “Our building is a crucial hub to the service we provide, and winning this award will mean we can continue to provide a safe and welcoming space for the community.
“We help all kinds of people, from all backgrounds and walks of life, and we are incredibly grateful for the support from Selco.”
BVS will collect its materials from Selco Coventry on Austin Drive before beginning work on the repairs, which will allow it to expand its outreach and services.
Simon Humpage, Head of Multi-Channel Marketing at Selco, said: “We are delighted to support the fantastic work of BVS. Just like BVS, we believe community is more important than ever and they are doing fantastic work to reduce poverty, isolation and crime.
“BVS’s application was one of many we have seen over the last few months, but it was an excellent one that really stood out. We look forward to welcoming the volunteers to our Coventry store to help them choose the materials they need to make required repairs.”
